Jennifer Duperval is a Registered Nurse and Holistic Lifestyle Consultant. Born and raised in New Jersey, Jennifer’s ten-year nursing career, was resiliently paved by an unconventional path in pursuit of her passion. The process, largely shaped by her unique life experiences, has now furthered into a life-long mission to aid others in improving their lifestyles. Graduating and receiving her Associates of Science in Nursing from Eastwick College, Jennifer progressed to obtain her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Grand Canyon University.
In her early years, Jennifer gained firsthand exposure to the ancestral traditions of her Sierra Leonian heritage. At the age of five, her parents arranged to have her live with her grandmother in Sierra Leone—a stay which was soon short-lived. Due to unfortunate dangers stemming from the emerging Sierra Leonian civil war, Jennifer returned to the U.S. at the age of six. Nevertheless, the undying heartbeat and rhythmic pulse of her familial roots followed her throughout the years that came—translating into her sociable, community-centered nature and purpose-driven love for cultivating communities and wholesome relationships.
While being a vessel and support system to those around her, Jennifer’s journey was not met without trying obstacles. Some of her greatest adversities were encountered while undergoing her postsecondary endeavors. Feeling a magnitude of defeat from failures faced in her nursing studies, Jennifer spiraled into depression. Being reared in an African home where excellence was the adopted standard, failure was not considered an option. This experience turned into a propelling force that launched her into an 8-year journey to obtain credentials as a Licensed Practical Nurse (2010), Registered Nurse (2015) and BSN (2017).
Confronting some of her deepest fears, Jennifer was able to mend her confidence and learn through an unrelenting will to persevere and lead. While she worked to overcome the hurdles thrust before her, her health was adversely affected. This sparked a venture to learn and uncover the correlation between the state of one’s health, one’s lifestyle habits, personal challenges, and the foods the individual consumes. Jennifer began to explore healing through the gut. Documentaries like “The Gerson Miracle” and “Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead” further inspired her to transform her lifestyle.
After applying what she gained from her search, Jennifer began educating others and saw the rippling effects of the transformative impact of leading a plant-based lifestyle. Experiencing new motherhood also added to this new level of awareness as it revealed more about her identity and inner strength. She came to understand that maintaining a plant-based lifestyle is a continual journey filled with ongoing learning milestones and nuances.
Rather than approaching health and wellness through recovery, Jennifer decided to pivot her path and take the proactive approach, which led to her founding The Motivational Eater, a holistic lifestyle consulting service. Her career has challenged typical assumptions of the everyday occupational climate of nurses. Having worked in the community, homes of clients, and educational institutions, Jennifer continues to aspire towards becoming a dynamic channel for healing beyond the parameters of institutional medical clinics and health centers.
